PSOE and United We Can have advanced their support in the Congress of Deputies for a motion by Esquerra Republicana (ERC) that asks to reactivate the dialogue table on Catalonia as soon as the autonomous Executive that arises from the Catalan elections on February 14 is constituted .
In the middle of the electoral campaign, the independentists will submit their motion to debate on Tuesday in the plenary session of the Chamber, which is a consequence of the interpellation that they addressed before Christmas to the then Minister of Territorial Policy, Carolina Darias, now in charge of Health.
The PSC candidate for the Generalitat, Salvador Illa , has also defended in an interview this Tuesday to resume the dialogue table to channel the Catalan conflict.
Sources from the two parties that make up the Executive have confirmed to Europa Press that they will support the ERC initiative, which demands a new appointment of the table on Catalonia between the Government and the new Catalan Executive to advance “in a decisive manner” in the resolution of the Political “conflict”.
This meeting had to be held months ago but the emergence of the pandemic and the disqualification of the former president Quim Torra delayed the new appointments of this institutional dialogue.
The Government of Pedro Sánchez has influenced its willingness to gather that forum for dialogue to talk about “everything” but always within the constitutional framework, as the former head of Territorial Policy reiterated in the debate on the interpellation.
In this way he responded to ERC deputy Montse Bassa, who claimed that the solution to the Catalan political crisis involves amnesty for the independence leaders imprisoned for their involvement in the illegal referendum of October 1, 2017 and for facilitating the exercise of the “ right of self-determination ”.
This is also reflected in the text of his motion, where he ensures that both conditions must be formally presented by the new Parliament that arises from the 14-F elections or through an agreement between the central and Catalan governments.
The PSC candidate for the regional elections, Salvador Illa , has also defended resuming the dialogue table between the Generalitat and the Government after the polls to channel the Catalan conflict and has opted to resume the debate based on the 44 proposals that he raised the Executive of Pedro Sánchez .
Illa was one of the members of the socialist team that agreed with ERC to create the aforementioned dialogue table between governments during the negotiation of Sánchez’s investiture, and also participated in the first and only meeting in February 2020 , a few weeks after the declaration of the alarm state.
In an interview in Onda Cero, the former Minister of Health has advocated reactivating the dialogue table although he has specified that the priorities of the future Government, which he aspires to preside, must be the protection of health, economic reactivation and “that nobody left behind ”.
